The Princess Street, Newtown project is a landmark mixed-use affordable and social housing development in Toowoomba, comprising 185 units across four residential towers ranging from four to six storeys, connected via a central podium featuring communal amenity spaces and undercroft car parking.
Delivering a nearly equal split of 89 social housing dwellings and 96 affordable housing dwellings, the project provides secure, long-term tenancies and supports low- to moderate-income households through high-quality, purpose-built accommodation.
Construction incorporates blockwork and in-situ concrete structure with traditional concrete deck construction, concrete columns, and lift and stair cores, topped by lightweight steel truss roofing. The design integrates Mission Australia offices at ground level, with community gardens and a BBQ area located on the podium level to foster social connection and resident wellbeing.
